"I enjoy working with LIFEbeat. The atmosphere is really pleasant. I really feel like it's my obligation to do peer outreach, because AIDS is everyone's problem."

Artist Involvement

Artists and musicians have the power to use their talents to help reach youth or to touch the lives of people living with AIDS.  There are many ways that artists can join LIFEbeat in these efforts.

Tour Outreach
LIFEbeat's Tour Outreach program began when Johnette Napolitano of Concrete Blonde asked LIFEbeat to be part of the band's tour by distributing condoms at their shows. This was the beginning of a program that has enabled LIFEbeat to reach millions of young people with lifesaving HIV/AIDS information. LIFEbeat has been invited to do outreach on tours including Dave Matthews Band, Red Hot Chili Peppers, OutKast, Area:One, TLC, Ozzfest, Sno-Core and Lilith Fair.

Donate a Portion of Tour ProceedsOzzy Osbourne presents LIFEbeat with a check from the proceeds of the Ozzfest Tour ticket surcharge
This option can be simply accomplished through either authorizing a nominal ticket surcharge or agreeing to donate a portion of proceeds from a tour to LIFEbeat. Funds raised help support youth HIV prevention programs. Artist that have donated funds from their tours include Ozzy Osbourne, Destiny's Child, Tina Turner, Moby, Sarah McLachlan and TLC.

Public Service Campaign
Artists can tape short HIV prevention spots for both radio and television. These public service announcements are designed to create awareness among young people about HIV/AIDS and to encourage prevention efforts.  Click here to hear a sample of audio PSAs from various artists.

Hearts & Voices
LIFEbeat shares the healing power of music with people living with AIDS through live music entertainment evenings to AIDS residences and hospitals. Artist visits to AIDS residential facilities are meaningful and beneficial for both artists and patients.  Find out more about Hearts & Voices.

Gifts
Music labels or artists' managment can choose to donate promotional items such as CDs or t-shirts to the residents of facilities participating in LIFEbeat's Hearts & Voices program.
